Exciting Grade Level Switch

As of yesterday, it's looking official.  I get to switch from third grade to kindergarten next year!  Soooo exciting yet so nerve racking.  I've only taught grades 2-4, but I'm SO ready for a change.  I've wanted out of my school for a couple years now and now I'm finally getting that opportunity.  I feel so happy right now.  So...I'm going to change my blog name but I'll keep my blog address.  I'm still planning on making upper level units as well as lower level now that I'll have both experiences under my belt.  So I hope you stay following as I'll miss the upper grades and will definitely need my "fix" of task cards and fun units for the upper graders.  To celebrate...I'm having a blog exclusive giveaway from an item in my TpT store.  I just made a Parts of Speech Flower Power Sort and if you click on one of the pictures....it's yours.  Hope you can use it!

  1. Thank you so much Stephanie, looks great and just what I need for my third graders. I just started following you as I was looking for more third grade teachers lol. I have taught K-3 though so I completely get the excitement of teaching kinder, it is so exciting to see where it all "starts" so to speak, don't worry you won't lose this new follower!

    1. I hope I'll like it. I figured if I don't, I can always transfer the next year. It's so worth it to get out of the school I'm at and to get into the school I'm in. The school I'm at is really old fashioned, worksheets based style, and to tell you the truth..just not very fun people (some are but most aren't). I get so jealous of you all posting pictures with your teaching buddies b/c my school just has no one I'd really want to be buddies with...sad :( The new school is top notch in our district and their teaching style matches mine. That's where we send my daughter actually so it will be great to be at the same school as her...it's my favorite school in the district so I said I'd take any position they offered. I'm excited but scared to death...I'll need you all!!!

  3. Congratulations! That is really exciting. Now you have the entire summer to figure out what you are going to do. There are a ton of fabulous kindergarten blogs to search for ideas. :) I really wish I knew I was teaching next year. The word from the district grapevine is that we will be hiring teachers, but there is no guarantee I will be teaching the same grade or even at the same school. I’ll be on pins and needles a little while longer.

  4. Yay! It sounds like you are excited about this. When I saw it, though, I felt a tad sad because I'll miss all of your wonderful upper grades "stuff" and feedback and then I felt guilty because you've bought so much our our upper grade "stuff" but we are bloggy buddies so it doesn't matter what grade you teach! I'll still stalk you!!! :O)

    Happy news, friend!! Yay!

  6. Congratulations, Stephanie, on your move to kindergarten. I moved from 6th to kindergarten for one year! That was a HUGE change! Then after 16 years in 4th grade last year I moved to 3rd and I was still amazed at the change! Good luck with your move. Thank you for the Flower Power Sort. It will be a great way to review our parts of speech.

  7. Congrats Stephanie! I am so excited for you!! It makes teaching a lot better when you love your coworkers! I am very lucky to have 6 fabulous coworkers that I work with and can always pick up the phone and discuss anything with them. We constantly text about everything and anything. I moved down last year from 2nd to 1st and I am so glad I did! I know I don't know you personally, but I feel as if I do! If you need anything at all to help get you started, just let me know. I know some amazing K teachers where I work and I can mail you somethings! Here is my email address acarver@scsk12.org please send me an email and I will give you my number! Maybe we can start texting about work too! =) Have a great weekend! Oh yeah, there are several really good giveaways going on. Check out my blog. I finally reached 100 followers! YAY!!!
